Some news from European brand SenNoSen

European brand SenNoSen got themselves a new logo for 2009. SenNosen is a bodyboarding clothing label hailing from France actually and starting artists collaborations this year to design their tshirts. They just sent us a preview of the first collaboration tee they have:

Designed by artist “Hate”, the “Heart by Hate” tshirt is the first of a couple collaborations the brand will have with different artists. “Hate” is a versatile artist: street art, drawing, painting, music, bodyboarding, skateboarding, surfing…

Another collaboration with Tahitian artist John “Ton” Poileux will be available soon as well. Christmas 08/09 to be more precise. Distribution must be worldwide this year we reckon. We’ll ask Mat D. at SNS for more info.

In the mean time check the SNS blog here: http://snseurope.blogspot.com

Billabong drops Ryan Hardy from its team

Billabong dropped Ryan Hardy from its bodyboard team. We waited until the news was official and until Ryan or Billabong said something about it and confirmed the rumors. Ryan talked about it on the Riptide website. Looks like budget issues forced Billabong to drop one of their bodyboard team riders from the team and Ryan was choosen. This is one sad news for Ryan and for the industry in general, showing how hard it is to be a pro bodyboarder.

Although Ryan will definitely find a new wetty and clothes sponsor we doubt that some brand out there can pay Ryan the same as Billabong did.

New beginnings for Ryan. Ryan is a legend and a true professionnal. We hope he’ll find new sponsors ASAP and keep on ripping til’ he’s the world champ !

This week Science annonces 3 new team riders ! Science is proud to announce that it has bolstered it’s already stellar lineup of stars with three of the countries hottest young prospects in Ash Bryant from the Gold Coast, Charles Ward from Tasmania and Alex Wilke from Sydney.

Ash is from the Gold Coast and has one of the best styles in and out of the water and has what it takes to be at the top of the pile of the next generation of riders, he has a great personality and is looked up to by his peers and groms alike

Charles is a young kid from Tasmania that is pushing the envelope at Shipsterns, for a 17 year old he has put himself into some serious situations of late but he can back up the bravo with great technical skills and is a down to earth approachable charachter

Alex is from the hip suburb of Avalon but don’t let this fool you into thinking this kid is too cool he is a down to earth young guy that just happens to posses phenomenal talent on a bodyboard, he will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

Unite logo re-design and soon to be updated website

We got an email this morning from the good people at UNITE saying that they’re changing their logo, starting…now ! with their new summer (in Oz at least) range. The new logo looks good to us.

Here’s the little text Unite sent us:

Unite Clothing Company today announced the launch of its new corporate logo. Unite was founded in 2004 by former professional bodyboarder Joel Taylor and is a leader in the clothing sector of the bodyboarding industry.

Unite will incorporate its new corporate logo into their Summer 2008 range. The new line will include Tee Shirts, Walk Shorts, Board Shorts, Rash Shirts, Caps, and much more. The Unite Summer 2008 collection will be available at Authorised Unite Dealers across Australia in November.

So, you’re probably wondering, why the change? “I dunno, we’ve been doing this for over four years now, we just figured it was time for a fresh look for the company:, Joel Taylor, Unite Managing Director, explained. “As the old saying goes, change is as good as a holiday. We’re still the same company with the same direction; we just have a new logo. We are stoked about the change and hope our supporters like it as much as we do.”

Unite Clothing Company also announced today that its new advertising campaign and website will be introduced this month. “After more than 12 months of development, we are excited to implement this new look to our brand – as well as the new corporate logo – it kinda heralds a new beginning for the company,” said Mr. Taylor.

The 2008/2009 advertising campaign will first appear in Riptide Magazine and Movement Magazine – alongside the launch of the new website online – in October.

Jeff Hubbard signs with Ocean Current

Jeff Hubbard recently signed with US clothing company Ocean Current. Ocean Current is largely distributed in shopping malls in the US and probably provide Jeff with a good (or at least better) budget for his trips and contests travels etc.

We dont know yet if Jeff leaves No Friends (at least for the Clothes) because of this new Ocean Current sponsorship but we believe that he probably left NF since he ain’t got no more NF stickers on his boards .

Ocean Current is a surf and skate apparel brand that carries a complete collection of Little Boys (2T-7X), Boys (8-20), and Young Men’s clothing. Offering a full range of Wovens, Knits, T-shirts, Bottoms and Outerwear such as Jackets and Hoodies, and board shorts coming in 2009, Ocean Current is quickly becoming a full-scale boy’s and men’s apparel line with national recognition and a growing following. Things we forgot while on the road

We’re on the road in California and actually couldnt really update the site too often. We missed a couple little news stories but i’m sure we’ll be forgiven because here they are and we even have new ones for you:

- Spencer Skipper officially launched his DENZIEN leashes website the other day. Check it out herea while ago in this post last June. Looks like the leashes are made by XM surf more and it’s good quality for sure..
- The Panic Button released another episode on their cool podcast starring Hardy, Costes, Jackson, Virtue, Honeybone, Backshall, Ormerods, Luehman at the Box (WA). Go here and download / suck / rip / watch it.
- Movement Magazine changed the design of their website.
- Todd Quigley from QCD now has his own little blog. Interesting.

Other than that we (Spongercity) went to ASR the other day in San Diego. Very few bodyboard brands there. We noticed Morey / BZ were there, Catch Surf also (the Tom Morey softboards). We’ll post a couple pics if we have the time to. No good waves in South California during our trip…
We got to see the latest TURBO bodyboards though the other day, while meeting Gregg (owner/manager of the brand). Pretty cool. Good projects coming.

Also got to read Bodyboarder Magazine here in the US (the one with Dave Hubbard on the cover) which is pretty good (better than before we reckon).
