Riptide issue 169 now available

That’s right, Riptide issue 169 is now available. What’s inside ? Well, on the cover it’s Adam Luehman (tow invert) shot by Alex Turoy, then inside there’s the RIPTIDE READER POLL 2009 that BP won, there’s a Hawaii section with all the best photos from the 2009 North Shore Season in one big photo-heavy feature, there’s an article called “THE GLOBALISATION OF BODYBOARDING” – Learn all about the bodyboarding industry around the world as Riptide determines which is the best country to become a pro rider. There’s a “ATTACK OF THE CORPSE” Thomas Robinson profile, there’s the “SHOOTING GALLERY” with eight pages of wild angles and huge action featuring D.Singer, R.Hardy, J.Marquina and an up-and-coming grommet, Jacob Hein. There’s also a SHOW ME HOW – HAWAIIAN EDITION. DKer Dylan Lee shows you how to survive on the North Shore and last but not least there’s a “Set Up” with Chad Jackson and heaps more stuff.

Talking about Riptide we’ve watched FLUX (the ZION DVD that was mounted with issue 168) and it’s rocks ! Action and images quality is great. Music a little too soft maybe. Anyway, great DVD. Worth a review ! So we’ll review it ASAP !

Vert Mag celebrates its 15th birthday

15 years of VERT Magazine in Portugal! It was a get together of the portuguese bodyboarding that VERT produced on the 21st of March. The 15th anniversary party of VERT went down on a big disco club called The LOFT, in Lisbon (Portugal) and attendence was amazing with 1.500+ people. The party had a slow start (typical in Europe where the night usually starts at about 02:00 AM), but in the end it was fucking crowded! Along with the party some dynamics were held: they did a poll for the next cover, delivered some awards for the winners of the Readers Poll 2008 and screened three new trailers of portuguese movies (Familia, Diário Viagem and The Dream).

Movement Mag issue 28 now available

Another absolutely amazing issue. We eventually received our copy as you can see. Serious design skills and a real pro approach to journalism and our sport in general with just the right dose or arty layouts and balance between texts and photography. We enjoyed reading the Dre interview yesterday and we’ve kept a couple articles to read today hehe. Yeah reading Movement mag is always a pleasure!

In this issue you’ll find some sick hawaii shots, the Dre interview, a nude chick, amazing shots from around the globe, kids in samoa (future trading kiddos), and some huge WA nuggets-shaped barrel.

Vert Mag 91 and Riptide Mag 168 out

Riptide issue 168 is now available in Oz (or worldwide if you can find it near you or are a subscriber). Dubb is on the cover of this sick issue with a massive air at Pipe. You’ve got the Euro Thrash Tour inside with Hardy, PLC, Bunting and Marquina. You’ve got a Mason Rose trip to France, a Jose Marquina Interview, a Zion wetties trip to Tassie, some sick pics galleries, and the usual bucnh of how-to and giveaways. This issue is dedicated to good old Europe with a long article talking about the situation of the sport in important areas such as England, Ireland, France, Spain, Canary Islands and of course Portugal. And as Europe was our main focus we just thought it will be nice to run an interview with Manuel Centeno, the current european champ (for the 3rd time).

Sick little Pipe Edit

There’s a siiiiiick little Pipeline video clip on the Rookies Site (Pipe from Feb 2008) right now. You gotta watch this !

While we’re talking about pipe make sure you also check the IBA site and get ready for the TURBO Pipeline pro action starting on the 16th of Feb. 2009 ! Yewwww. There’s a little video clip presenting the event on the IBA home page so check it out.

Issue 15 of Crysis Bodyboard Mag is now available. Features include an interview with Micah McMullin, Hurricane Force from the East Coast, Chaos in Cabo, Nic Lugo profile, Road Warriors in South Africa, a 2009 Calendar and tons more. Subscribers, look for yours in the mailbox within a few days and others can pick them up at your favorite retail location soon. Rumor has it Manny Vargas and the crew will be at the Trade Show with boxes of em’!

New UNITE website, DLUX sale and FUTURE TRADING Results

UNITE just launched their new website for 2009 and dropped us a line: “New website coming soon, yeah right! Okay, we admit it, our new website took a while longer to launch than we had expected. Who can blame us though? It is Summer after all and there are a million and one more fun things to do right now than slave away in the heat in front of a computer.

Thank you for your patience and continued support, all the best for 2009!”

Other than that Phil Gallagher has a DLUX sale going on here. “Only 200 copies left and well its time to move them so i can start on the next project ASAP. Here is what our friend Toze at VERT Mag has to say about this issue: On this edition we go nuts about Shipsterns and the heaviest session held in there in the past months. We also travelled around Sumatra, Mentawai and Bali, and to finish we’re enjoying a beer in the warm waters of Puerto Escondido. Portugal Rocks is the end main topic of this issue and it shows how good the waves were in the beginning of this season.
