There’s recently been 3 cancelled events on the world tour and we thought it’d be important to give you more details about where we’re at with the title race this year. As we just read on the IBA site here is a little sum up:
After the cancellation of Men’s events in Bahia (Brazil) Tenerife (Canary Islands) and Isle De Margarite (Venezuela) the IBA WMT ratings will now be taken from the best 5 results and not the best 6. It is simply following the rule of 50% + 1 so with only 9 events in 2008 the best 5 will now count towards the championship.
This will now see the lead past to Guilherme Tamega (Brazil) with Uri Valadao (Brazil) and Ben Player (Australia) all within 400 points of each other.
Pierre Luis Costes (France) and Mark McCarthy (South Africa) round out the top 5 and are also outside chances to win the IBA World Tour.
One thing is for sure….the event at Confital will once again determine the World Title race and will ensure an exciting finish to another great year for the IBA.
Stay tuned for more info as it comes to hand…

Max just sent us an email and introduced his new Blog/Website to us. It’s called Followmemax.com and is pretty cool. It’s everything about Max, not just bodyboarding but also music, fashion, films, vids etc. As Max explains: “the main idea – the manifesto – behind this website, is giving you, the reader (whoever that may be) a realistic look into the experiences, personality and interests of my own and what are respectably similar to a bunch other of the professional boogy dudes I ride with. Surfing, girls, film, photos, art, cheek, music, lies, fuck you’s, good times, rock and roll… experiences ! Cheeks ! Girls ! Surfing ! Lies ! Rumours ! Waves ! Art ! Music ! Girls ! Lies ! Film ! Quotes ! Girls ! ROCK and ROLL !!!!!!!!!………!!!!!!!!!…….!!!!!!!!!……….!!!!!!!!!
A behind the scenes take on where we really get our kicks. Even more so, how SIMILAR we riders are to you. Your gonna get rude, your gonna get raw, even sometimes contraversial, Owwwww! But always fun : )
Really just feeding you people with, whatever the fuck I feel like.
Bodyboarding is so fucking cool at the moment, so cool, radical and rebellious, some media outlets are even scared to cover it.
So bookmark followmemax.com and through my informative, consistent and what I hope to be entertaining updates, you may just take a little fancy towards this filthy blog”.

Riptide Mag issue 166 should hit the streets as we speak. It’s got Sydney’s Jose Marquina at The Zone on the cover. “Jose cops 20 stiches after getting whipped, and then lands himself his first Riptide cover” says Riptide. Then you’ve got some How To tips with Gold Coaster Corey McLean. You’ve got a Byron Namenyi interview, Byron being a hardcore band singer and GC shredder. You’ve also got Port Macquarie’s Damien King and Jones Russell follow the footsteps on celebrated Aussie explorer Edward John Eyre in a wild, across Oz adventure. There’s a West Coast trip with VS Team Ryan Hardy, Mitch Rawlins and Pierre-Louis Costes. There’s a feature with Dallas Singer talking about “his busy university, bodyboarding and club president schedules”. There’s a Summer wetsuits review as well. And last but not least there’s a Glen “Pencey” Thurston’s gear giveaway.
Yewww that’s a lot for one issue actually. Sounds pretty good to us. Can’t wait to see that mag in the mail box !

Jeff Hubbard recently signed with US clothing company Ocean Current. Ocean Current is largely distributed in shopping malls in the US and probably provide Jeff with a good (or at least better) budget for his trips and contests travels etc.
We dont know yet if Jeff leaves No Friends (at least for the Clothes) because of this new Ocean Current sponsorship but we believe that he probably left NF since he ain’t got no more NF stickers on his boards .
Ocean Current is a surf and skate apparel brand that carries a complete collection of Little Boys (2T-7X), Boys (8-20), and Young Men’s clothing. Offering a full range of Wovens, Knits, T-shirts, Bottoms and Outerwear such as Jackets and Hoodies, and board shorts coming in 2009, Ocean Current is quickly becoming a full-scale boy’s and men’s apparel line with national recognition and a growing following. Learn more about Ocean Current here.
