Agent 18 is one of the rare 100% bodyboarding wetsuit company and they seem to make some of the coolest suits around. With a sick team (Glen Thurston, Chris James, Jake Stone and Michael Novy) and a solid brand image we were really curious about the suits and decided to test one of them. Our choice was the Zebra 3/2 full suit which looks pretty amazing (whether you wanna look like a zebra or not in the water… some thought they looked ugly, we think it’s pretty sick to see a suit that is not all black like all other brands out there). Anyway, read the full test article by clicking below.
So we received our new Zebra suit a couple weeks ago and were really excited to see how the suit was. First time we saw something a little crazy in the wetsuits industry since Aleeda in the US back when Roach and Vargas were riding for them. The Zebra suits looks awesome and the zebra print is really nice on it. The suit is super light and quite thin with 100% superflex stretch neoprene.
It’s got a Japanese hollow fiber thermal lining inside, like most good suits, all seams are glued outside and all finitions look good on the suit. The Agent 18 logos are debossed on chest and back, and there’s more sick silver logos on the back and arms. The back zip is a good YKK Metal zip and it’s got a smooth Glide skin collar. It’s made in China, like most suits. (Always made in China if not Taiwan or Japan)
We digged the neoprene barrier (aqua shield) inside the suit, in the back, to avoid water entry thru the zip. The collar is comfortable and doesnt let the water in too much.
First thing we noticed is how light the material is and how strechy and confortable it is. It felt like we were naked almost. The suit is super thin though and it’s probably not meant to be used in really cold winter waters but it’s perfect for everything from 16C° to 18C°. It has no mesh on the belly panel and the seams have been well conceived on the front to avoid having a seam on the bottom of the belly and fuck the suit up. Check the details here on this picture.
The suit has a very similar shape as the Billabong Solution suit, with the same neoprene barrier in the back, a similar collar and the same HDR silicon knee pads. The only difference is the front seam on the belly on the Agent 18 specially adapted for bodyboarding and the absence of mesh on the front.
The suit is really comfortable in the water and was perfect for 16-18°C waters. We havent ridden it for a long time yet so we won’t be able to tell you how solid the suit is and how long you’ll be able to keep it but all seams and critical parts are well protected and although the suit is really thin and stretch it doesnt seem too fragile.
Watchout, the zebra suit will definitely attract girls (well we’re not sure) and will have people wondering what the hell you’re doing in the water with a zebra suit on, but it’s pretty cool though.
Available in blue, red, black and grey also. Agent 18 suits are availabe in fullsuits (3/2 and 3/3), spring suits and long arms spring suits also. The zebra fullsuit is about 429 dollars in Oz.
