FIRE, the long awaited Mike Stewart / Scotty Carter movie will eventually be out at the end of this year and the premiere dates are already booked for Oz (in October). Make sure to go to one of ‘em if you can, it goes as this. And the cover look like this: Fire cover. Can’t wait to watch it !

Science upping the ante

Yep, SCIENCE eventually got themselves a cool new website where you’ll be able to peep the latest products, riders and news. Thomas Robinson also resigned with Science for another year. Check his pro models on the site, they look pretty good.

Riptide issue 165 coming soon, plus iPod candy for you

Riptide Mag issue 165 will be out next week. It’s the BIG issue. It’s got Rawlins’ massive barrel on the cover as you can see here (same wave as the Movement issue 25 cover we reckon). Here’s what Riptide 165 is all about (from the Riptide website): Riptide 165 hits the newsstands next week and if you’re a subscriber it might even be sittin’ pretty in your hands by this Friday! This issue we’re going BIG with Chris James’s Big Man On Campus feature, our biggest backpack and boardbag guide yet, plus Sean Virtue gives you the low-down on his gig earning the big bucks on oil rigs. But wait there’s still plenty more! Issue 165 is packin’ two massive pullout posters, an Abstract Angles spread and the gargantuan sequence of Mitch Rawlins’s backdoor keg.

On a side note, Movement Mag added their issue 25 podcast episode on their podcast (it’s the Rawlins interview). For some reason we couldnt read the file properly on iTunes… maybe you guys will read it well ? Encoding problems maybe ?

Other side note: The Panic Button has also added a new podcast episode to their Panic Podcast, it’s issue 2.2, featuring PLC, Brad Hugues, Chad Jackson and Amaury Lavherne in West Oz. Pretty sick episode ! Go to Thepanicbutton.com.au to right-click and download it. The link on their iTunes podcast is not the correct one at the moment so you wont be able to get it from iTunes, you can only right-click on their website to download the episode.

Arica’s coming (look busy !)

The Arica challenge (Chile) is about to start and since it’s always a great event with good waves and good coverage we thought we should remind you. Make sure you check the IBA site for all details about the event and riders. The IBA is seriously doing a great job this year. Direct link here.

Industry news ? Yeah ! 4Play and Manta sites and Science covers

Alright, just as we woke up we got 2 emails in the mail box, one says: Science is once again innovating the industry with the release of two revolutionary board covers. The Towel cover and the Ultra Light cover. The Towel cover is a single day use bag that converts into a change mat and towel when fully unzipped and also acts as extra padding when coupled with the Science Tri-Pouch cover. The second is the perfect cover for the traveler, The Ultra Light is made of heavy duty rip stop material and can hold two boards, but the main feature of the cover is that it can fold up to fit into a small backpack pocket. Pictures here: Towel bag pic 1 and pic 2 as well as Ultralight bag pic 1 and pic 2.

The other email from Reon Fisher at 4Play says: Check out 4Play’s new updated site with all the latest news, photos, interviews and products. http://www.4play.com.au Make sure to read the Damian King interview wear his alter ego makes an appearance.

We also noticed that the Manta Boards website had been updated and re-designed too.

Movement Mag issue 25 is coming.

Movement Mag issue 25 is coming. The cover is EPIC and the editor’s note about the magazine reads like this: If being a great big wave surfer is the ability to stay alive while looking good in the heaviest of situations then Mitch Rawlins must now be considered amongst the best in the world. We’ve always known him as the stylish and innovative freesurfer but ever since a particular Shipsterns session two years ago his heavy wave riding has been as good as anyone’s. His move to WA is now a masterstroke as the tight pack of riders he’s been running with enjoy free reign over the latest big wave discoveries and earn the envy of the surfing world in the process. Click the link where we talked-turkey with Mitch over his latest session. Youtube vid here. And check Movement Mag for more news about the mag and stuff.
