Movement Mag 34 is now available. Sick cover with Charlie Ward charging in Tasmania. Check the cover here.
Excerpt from the Movement Mag website: “It’s not often that Tasmania is praised for anything, the poor little inbred islanders they are. The crew featured in this issue, however, will go a long way to altering your perception. Young and hungry they are riding waves of very real consequence. This is Charlie Ward, somewhere you may or may not want to be. Full issue details to follow”.

There are 2 new clips on Mitch’ website that you don’t wanna miss:
One is a great little clip from the Canary Islands (click this link to watch it on Mitch website). It’s the #1 clip of a mini series of movies filmed in the Canary Islands by Andy Lawrence and Mitch around the time of the worldtour contest last year in December 2009. Really cool clip, well filmed and well edited.
The other cool clip you need to watch is Mitch’ movie teaser #2 for his upcoming movie HIDING FROM COMFORT”. Go watch the clip here. It’s super good and the quality of the footage is insane. Can’t wait to see the whole movie.

Glen Thurston launches his own board brand and website. This is no secret anymore but for some reason we haven’t talked about it yet here on Spongercity.com
Have a look at his website here: http://glenthurston.com.au/ and have a look at the trailer for his new board brand called ID Bodyboards here.
PS: We’re not too sure about the trailer - kids not going to the peep show thanks to Glen and his boards more or less… which has nothing to do with bodyboarding really… - but the boards look good.

WA riders check this out:
IBA Australasia Rebel Sports Pro Tour Event # 5, The EBB Pro.
Yallingup, South-West WA. Event waiting period (Thurs 16th – Sunday 19th September 2010)
The EBB Pro Proudly Supported by Elit’ Bodyboards, SunSmart, and Surfing Western Australia.
The Australasian Rebel Sport Bodyboard Pro Tour is heading west for what is anticipated to be the biggest bodyboarding event the state has ever seen. The 2010 EBB Pro is returning to Yallingup in the South-West corner of WA for a four day competition, which will combine the final event of the WA State Bodyboard Series.
The EBB Pro is the fifth stop of the Australasian Bodyboarding Pro Tour which has thus far travelled to New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia . The event will see a bumper field of up to fifty professional bodyboarders from across WA, East Coast Australia and even South Africa travel to the beautiful Cape Naturaliste area in Yallingup for what is shaping up to be a simply electrifying four days of action.
The EBB Pro is proudly celebrating its fifth birthday and after a slow start in the opening years with the event running in the metro beach breaks of Perth, the event has broken free of those shackles and is now a permanent fixture on the IBA Australasian events calendar. Since its humble beginnings the EBB Pro now boasts a four day waiting period in one of the countries most surf rich locations, along with this the 2010 EBB Pro is proud to carry a massive four star rating and a total prize pool of $5, 000.
The EBB Pro is lucky to be run in one of the most iconic surf locations in the world, and with a total of six possible locations booked the riders should benefit with officials only running the Pro divisions in the best waves and conditions possible.
“Its important for the competitors to have simply the best waves on offer, it’s a long way to come to WA to only surf a dribbly beachies so we’re happy to have to ability to move the event to some of Yallingup’s biggest and thickest waves.” Said Surfing WA Events Manager Justin Majeks.
The EBB Pro has provided a huge opportunity for WA’s up and coming bodyboarders to see their idols first hand and continue the sports development into the future. WA has long been renowned as a breeding ground of unbelievable bodyboard talent, and with the likes of Ryan Hardy, Sean Virtue, Brad Hughes, Chad Jackson and Chris White all at the forefront of the pushing the sport into the mainstream.
Combining the Pro event with the State Bodyboard Series provides an opportunity for the next generation of talent to see the stars of the sport with their own two eyes. For the likes of Alex Halsey (Woodvale), Lewy Finnegan (Ocean Reef), and Mandurah duo Davis Blackwell and George Humphrys the opportunity to see professional bodyboard action live, has resulted in some impressive performances from the ‘new school’ of WA bodyboarding.
The EBB Pro has always been a crucial event on the Aussie Tour, with many winners of the event going on to claim the Rebel Sport Australasian Pro Championship. Such was the case with defending Champion Corey Maclean (Miami Beach, QLD) who went from strength to strength after his inspiring win in the west in 2009.
Maclean will be leading the list of defending champions returning to WA, along with 2008 winner Michael Novy (Avoca, NSW) in an attempt to become the first rider in the events history to claim back to back titles. The EBB Pro has been lucky to secure a window with no clashes amid World Tour Events in Europe so event officials are hopeful for more big names signing up for the event in the next few days.
“Each year we have drawn some of the world’s best bodyboarders to the event including Dave Winchester, Ryan Hardy, Brad Hughes, Chad Jackson, Tom Rigby and Jake Stone. I think the quality of the field is testament to the event and also the great waves that the South-West can produce”, said Justin Majeks.
Entries are still open with positions available and will close on Wednesday September 15th. Competitors can still enter online via the Surfing WA website http://www.surfingaustralia.com/wa/event.php?id=183
If you didn’t get a chance to check out the EBB Pro in 2009, be sure to check out the awesome highlight package here http://vimeo.com/6832667

For some reason we had never seen that Paul Roach / Aaron Bagley footage before but thanks god we found it totally by chance next to a cool Jordan Hetrick video from back in the days when CustomX silver slicks were the sickest thing to have. Anyway: watch that video of Paul Roach (with Aaron Bagley at the end) – http://blip.tv/file/3898579/ – Best style in the biz! How cool were those Outcast wetsuits also ?
Also here’s another good one from Roach (an older one) with Toobs Dagger boards and green Aleeda Suits. Oh yeah! – http://blip.tv/file/2785437/
