Movement Mag Issue 40 now available

Another great mag is out. Issue 40. Benny P on the cover. 200 pages, hard cover. Thanks Movement Mag!

Excerpts from the Movement Mag website:

Movement Mag 40

Movement always pride ourselves on doing the best we can do. Some people might say that is to our detriment as we have never made a cent in the 8 years, but we feel that nothing beats cracking open a magazine for the first time and feeling the weight, touching the texture and the smell the ink of beautiful pages. To feel proud of something that you have created is worth the hard work we put into it.

Issue 40 is another example of why we bodyboard and why we – Movement Magazine – makes magazines and is something that we’re really proud off. This issue covers an epic escape with Jeff Hubbard through some secret spots of Indonesia where he finds out he can still fly despite having clipped wings. Jack Johns and Ben Player brave the Baltic cold and venture up into the far Northern Atlantic in search of new waves into the land of Northern Lights. Mike Stewart shows us a matrix of his life and what makes him the best to have ridden a bit of foam. Then there’s the rest of the content that you usually find in every issue all packed into 200 pages, squeezed between two hard covers and all coming to a newsagent or surf store near you.

We hope when you read this mammoth issue it makes you as proud of riding a bodyboard as it makes us, because you are the reason we make this magazine.

Mitch Rawlins wins the Shark Island Challenge 2012

Yeah Mitch ! Massive congrats ! A well deserved win !

The 2012 NMD Shark Island Challenge was run and won today in wild 2 meter waves at the notorious Shark Island break in the south of Sydney.

20 of the World best Bodyboarders were invited to compete in this International Bodyboarding Association (IBA) Specialty event that has a 3 month waiting period and 1 day of frantic competition.

Mitch Rawlins (QLD) dominated the competition from the first heat of the day and looked like the man to beat. Other standouts in the early rounds included Jacob Romero from Hawaii, Jason Finlay (NSW) and Damian King (NSW).

The 4 man final was a memorable one with Mitch Rawlins exchanging waves with other finalists Ewan Donnachie (NSW), Jason Finlay (NSW) and Damian King (NSW). It was Mitch who came out on top with some amazing barrel riding skills on the largest waves of the final, thrilling the big crowd in the water and on the land.

Mitch watch quoted as saying “this is the event that every Bodyboarder wants to win and I am happy I can now say I have won the Shark Island Challenge, even if only one time.”

The IBA World Tour now moves onto Europe for the IBA Sintra Pro in Portugal on the 28th August, which is event 5 of 8.
