We talked about The Panic Button a while ago and posted links to their youtube teasers but now their website is eventually online, it looks sick and you’ll be able to watch the DVD teaser and download their podcast as well. We’ve re-designed some of the site pages and eventually released the new pages yesterday night, starting with the DVD reviews pages which has a totally re-designed list of DVD reviews: more than 60 DVDs reviewed so far ! (note that the DVD release dates are wrong, we’ll correct this as soon as we remember when the DVDs came out haha). The Podcast page is new too, no more ‘media’ page. It’s all about Podcasts and RSS feeds nowadays. Come on, don’t be shy and jump in the hi-tech wagon with us ! The Music reviews page has also been re-designed and the Tests page as well. Expect more tests and more reviews very very soon. Next DVD review is FACES. Next board test is the SCIENCE 7 41.5 crescent tail 2008 edition. Fins test as well, we’ll let you know why Bluntcuts are some of the best fins out there. Let us know if you want to see any specific DVD review or board tests on the website, we’ll try to review them. We added a little Spongercity Store for those who want Spongercity tees and caps. Shipping is free for those about to ask.
Also peep the new A-Frame site here. A-Frame hails from the US and is the best online bb mag you can find. You gotta check it if you havent yet. Next issue coming soon. Thanx Alex for the hard work and sick mag.

This is one of the rare californian video out in 2007 and it would’ve been a shame for us not to review it coz it’s fresh, it’s got awesome footage and it’s got what most videos dont have: heaps of different spots, heaps of different riders and a taste of what travelling around the world is. INTERVIEW done on the 8th of March 2005 – “Last Questions” with Ben Player
BEN PLAYER not only works at Movement Mag but he’s everywhere : he’s in every single Mag and video, he competes on the world tour and makes it to the top 10 if not the top 5 of the RIPTIDE peer poll every year for the past five years (#6 this year). Ben’s surfing is creative and as stylish as it gets, he’s impressive in the water and super cool out of the water. He was probly out of the water and at home in Oz the other day when i asked Ben if he was ok to be interviewed for playbord.com coz he said yes pretty quickly and answered his emails for a couple days. We got lucky… Anyway, both me and Ben thought that a real interview is kinda boring and lacks of spontaneity and authenticity so we agreed on the ‘Last Words’ interview format (which i must admit i borrowed to TransworldSURF Mag). I sent Ben the 30 or so quick questions and got my answers the next day. That was last week, we cant be more fresh than this on playbord ! So here are Ben’s last words and facts :
Last surf you had : Yesterday at Black Rock. 4 ft and flawless. I surfed for 9 hours.

Parkway Drive is touring in europe and we were lucky to watch ‘em play live yesterday night in Paris, France. We took a little trip to Paris with a bunch of friends and enjoyed a nice hardcore show with heaps of bands. Parkway Drive was definitely the stand out band, they played 8 songs, mostly from their previous album. Freaking awesome live show. Check a few pictures we shot and a small video from yesterday night. You must have heard ‘em in recent bbing videos.

Note that we re-recorded the song over the video because the sound was crap and the camera microphone pretty much died. The music was so freakin’ loud that it blew the mic.So the image and sound might be a little un-synched but it’s still pretty good to watch hey !

Riptide issue 160 is out. It says “Biggest issue ever” on the cover and jeez, yes, it’s sick and nice! Check it out.
We just got the brand new HELLO (luck squirrel club) teaser which is awesome. We’ll add it on the Podcast ASAP. While waiting for it, you can already watch it here. “This is a film that’s fun, colourful and if anything has too much personality. We want the viewer to be involved, we want them to walk away better for the experience. We didn’t sit on a beach shooting riders we had no relationship with, or paddled out and shot the same footage as 3 other film crews. We wanted to personalise this film so it had to be about the people, not purely about what happened in the water.”
Their DVD will be out in 1 or 2. Stay tuned, more news coming soon.
Last but not least, in the same vein as THE INSIDE but 13 years later, Scotty Carter’s new project with Mike Stewart called FIRE, which we talked about a while back, eventually has a teaser to watch. It’s here and it looks different and pretty interesting.

Yewwwww. Kyle Maligro who has been riding for Toobs back in the days and then rode for BZ for a while is now back on the Toobs team with a new killer board model. It’s got his old logo on it and i’m already frothing looking at the board. As Kyle said, it’s “Good to be back with the Toobs family.”
