Ben Player has revamped his website at Benplayer.com and just released an absolutely mind-blowing video clip with Todd Barnes – a 15min. clip, all in HD, of his best waves on film in 2009.
Watch it here: http://www.benplayer.com/
Ben Player – TwoZeroZeroNine
I approached Todd Barnes – editor of the Thrash series – to edit this clip of my best waves from 2009 about six months ago. Todd’s reply was, ‘yeah mate, sweet. It should only take me about 2 weeks to edit.’
I wanted to make a free movie for the public, something that I would look at and make me feel proud.
Six months and about 101 phone calls later Todd had finished the project and when I saw the finished product I realised why it has taken so long. Every wave, every moment and every beat of the song makes me proud.
Hope you like this guys.
Thanks Todd.

Our friend Greg Marguerie sent us this really nice little video clip, shot in Reunion island with a 7D camera. (Note the classy blur effect on some of the footage, same cool effect you get on a still shot – “tilt shifting effect”). It’s called “The Hunger of Spoiled Children”. Watch it here.
Main Characters : Charly Chapelet, Lucas Vergnes, Sylvain Langlet & Guillaume Kapfer.
Directing : Gregory Marguerie
Sound : Flying Lotus – Sketchbook

We lagged a little bit lately so we had to do a little recap of what’s going on lately:
- Guilherme Tamega has a new website! Not sure if talked about it yet, but if we haven’t… shame on us, here the site: http://www.gtamega.com.br
- Nomad Bodyboards is proud to announce the signing of rising star Alex Halsey – here the release that went with the news: Nomad co-founder Shane Britten said of the signing, “Alex really represents the next wave of young riders who are combining power to their tech riding. Ever since seeing his section in Pastiche he has been someone we have been interested in working with, and I think his age and style will add a different dynamic and perspective to the FSD”. Halsey will join Chris James, Matt lackey, Sacha Specker, and Ernesto Evana as part of the Nomad FSD, a team initiative designed to provide their expertise on product design and development, but to also provide a program to launch projects of their own creation. To date these projects have included the ROAM series, T.I.A. (This Is Africa), and 40 Days around the world.
- Science Customs Announces the “Science Customs Design Challenge” – What’s that ? Well, here you go: Mike Stewart, Inc. company, is excited to announce the Science Customs Design Challenge. The Design Challenge is an open call for artists of all levels to create a custom design and share it with the bodyboarding community. The Challenge will run from May 1, 2010 until June 30, 2010 with a Grand Prize to be selected by Mike Stewart and Alistair Taylor on July 12th, 2010. Additional prizes will be awarded via community voting. Prizes: GRAND PRIZE (Selected by Mike and Al): Science Custom Board with the winning design, Science boardbag and Gyroll leash. FIRST PLACE (User votes): Science Custom Board with the winning design, Science boardbag and Gyroll leash. SECOND PLACE (User votes): $75 Gift Certificate to Science Customs.
